Sell Us Your Surplus HVAC Parts, Controllers & Valves

Sell Us Your Surplus HVAC Parts, Controllers & Valves

Quick answer: VB Industrial Supply buys surplus, new old stock (NOS), and used HVAC and building automation inventory — DDC and BAS controllers, damper and valve actuators, solenoid valves and coils, control transformers, temperature and pressure sensors, relays, thermostats, and VFDs. We buy full lots from mechanical contractors, controls integrators, facility managers, OEMs, and liquidators nationwide, we price every line against the actual secondary market, and we pay cash for the whole lot. Send us your parts list and we'll make an offer.

That shelf of HVAC controls is an asset, not clutter

Every mechanical contractor and facility team we talk to has the same thing somewhere in the building: a rack of shelves holding actuators from a job that got value-engineered, a box of VAV controllers left over when a floor got re-scoped, solenoid valves ordered for a chiller that got replaced instead of repaired, spare boards for a control system that was ripped out three years ago.

It sat there because nobody had time to deal with it, and because the parts are too valuable to throw away but too specialized to sell easily. Nobody on eBay is searching for a Siemens PXC module the way they search for a lawnmower.

We are the buyer for that inventory. Since 2017 we've specialized in industrial and HVAC surplus, and we buy the parts most people can't move — obsolete, discontinued, orphaned accessories, single-brand lots, mixed pallets, and everything in between.

What HVAC and building automation parts we buy

Building automation and DDC controllers

  • Johnson Controls Metasys — FEC, FAC, IOM field controllers, VMA VAV controllers
  • Siemens APOGEE and Desigo — PXC modular controllers, TEC room controllers, PXX expansion modules
  • Honeywell Spyder, WEBs/Niagara JACE controllers, Excel 500/800
  • Distech Controls ECY and ECB series, I/O extension modules
  • Automated Logic, Alerton, Delta Controls, KMC Controls, Reliable Controls, Andover/Schneider

Solenoid valves, coils, and refrigeration controls

  • ASCO Red-Hat 2-way, 3-way, and 4-way solenoid valves and replacement coils
  • Parker Skinner, Danfoss, Sporlan, Alco/Emerson, Humphrey, Burkert
  • Thermostatic and electronic expansion valves, liquid line solenoid valves
  • Pressure controls, oil failure switches, head pressure controls

Actuators and valve assemblies

  • Belimo damper and valve actuators — ARM, AF, LF, NF series
  • Johnson Controls M9000-series spring-return damper actuators
  • Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider, and Erie zone valves and actuators

Sensors, relays, and control power

  • Duct, immersion, averaging, and outside-air temperature sensors
  • Differential pressure transducers, airflow and static pressure sensors, CO2 and humidity sensors
  • Functional Devices RIB enclosed relays, pilot relays, current sensing switches
  • Control transformers — 40VA, 75VA, 100VA multi-tap and 24VAC Class 2

Drives, motors, and mechanical

  • ABB, Danfoss, Yaskawa, and Schneider VFDs pulled from air handlers and pump skids
  • ECM and PSC blower motors, condenser fan motors, circulator pumps
  • Bearings, belts, sheaves, and couplings from AHU rebuilds

If it's an HVAC or controls component with a legible manufacturer part number, we'll price it — including obsolete and discontinued parts that other buyers turn down.

Who sells to us

  • Mechanical and controls contractors clearing truck stock, project leftovers, and warehouse overflow
  • Facility and plant managers decommissioning a building, consolidating sites, or finishing a BAS retrofit with the old spares still on the shelf
  • OEMs and panel builders with excess raw stock, cancelled builds, or engineering-change obsolescence
  • Liquidators, auctioneers, and asset recovery firms who need a specialist buyer for the controls portion of a larger lot
  • Estates and business closures where nobody on site knows what any of it is worth

You do not need to know what you have. A spreadsheet, a packing list, or a stack of shelf photos is enough to start.

How the Sell To Us process works

1. Send your list. Fill out our Asset Recovery Form with part numbers, quantities, and condition — or just send a CSV, a PDF inventory, or photos.

2. We research the real market. Every line is priced against actual secondary-market evidence: completed and active sales data, surplus dealer inventory, and distributor pricing. Not manufacturer list. Not your ERP replacement cost.

3. We handle logistics. Palletized freight, LTL pickup, or local pickup in Southern California. We buy the whole lot — we don't cherry-pick the good parts and leave you holding the rest.

How to get the highest offer on your lot

Sellers who prepare their list well consistently get better offers, because uncertainty always gets priced in. A few things that move the number:

  • Give full, exact part numbers. A truncated or partial part number can hide a variant worth several times more. A Schneider license code ending in G is a three-user group license; the same code ending in S is a single seat. We can only pay for what we can verify.
  • State the condition honestly, per line. "New in box," "new, out of box," "removed from service, untested," "removed working." Undefined conditions get priced at the pessimistic end.
  • Include photos. Especially of open-box items, shelf-worn packaging, and anything removed from service. Photos are the single fastest way to raise an offer on used inventory.
  • Note what tested and when. Any test statement, even informal, is worth more than none.
  • Keep matched sets together. Light curtain emitter/receiver pairs, actuator plus linkage kits, valve bodies with their coils, sensors with their wells. Split sets are worth far less than complete assemblies.
  • Gather activation certificates for any software. BAS front-end seats and engineering licenses are usually node-locked to a hardware fingerprint or an account. Without a transferable activation code, a software line item is worth zero no matter what the catalog number says.

A note on what your parts are actually worth

The most common surprise in this business is the gap between what a seller expects and what the secondary market pays. It is not unusual for a seller's estimate to come in at five to ten times fair market value.

That is almost never anyone being unreasonable. It happens because the estimate is pulled from an ERP system, a distributor quote, or the manufacturer's list price — all of which describe what it costs to buy the part new through the factory channel, not what it sells for as surplus. Precision components routinely clear on the surplus market in the single-digit percentages of list.

We'd rather tell you that up front than waste your time. What we will do is show you the comparable sales behind every line, so the number is something you can check rather than something you have to take on faith.

Frequently asked questions

Do you buy obsolete and discontinued HVAC controllers? Yes. Discontinued parts are often worth more on the secondary market than current-production equivalents, because factory supply is gone while the installed base still needs them.

Will you buy used HVAC parts, or only new surplus? Both. Used and removed-from-service parts are priced lower, but we buy them. Photos and any test documentation will improve the offer.

What's the minimum lot size? We look at everything, but we're most competitive on lots with real line-item depth. A handful of parts is fine; a pallet or a full shelf is better.

How do you determine what my HVAC parts are worth? We price to the actual secondary market using completed sales data, surplus dealer inventory, and distributor pricing. Manufacturer list price and ERP replacement cost are not market prices.

Do you buy solenoid valves without coils, or coils without valves? Yes to both. Orphaned coils and valve bodies still have buyers, and we price them accordingly.

Do you buy outside California? Yes. We buy nationwide and arrange freight pickup anywhere in the continental United States.

How long does a valuation take? Most lots turn around quickly once we have a clean part list. Lots with missing part numbers, no condition information, or no photos take longer — the more complete your list, the faster your offer.

Do I have to sell the whole lot? We prefer to buy complete lots, which is also why our offers are competitive. If you only want to move part of the inventory, tell us up front and we'll price what you're offering.

Ready to turn that shelf into cash?

Whether it's a dozen Belimo actuators, a pallet of Johnson Controls VAV controllers, or an entire warehouse of refrigeration solenoid valves, send us the list and we'll price it.
